Architect Firm: Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects

Located at Justice Drive, Asia Society Hong Kong Center is housed at the former explosives magazine hidden under the green belt of Admiralty. This site is comprised of 4 historical structures - Former Laboratory, Magazine A, Magazine B and GG Block, which were single-storey functional buildings built between 1868 and 1940 by architects of the military. The Former Laboratory is surrounded with exterior walls made with granite and bricks, verandahs and topped with Chinese tile roof. Magazine A is known for its granite exterior and arched roof, differentiating itself from Magazine B with brick exterior and triangular brickwork gable and verandahs. GG Block was built with reinforced concrete and topped with a flat roof. In 1979, the site was used for government workshops and storage. In 2002, the site was revitalised by Asia Society into the new center comprising a two-storey new structure connecting the historical compound with a footbridge. The Center reopened in 2012.
