Victoria Park

1957, Streetscapes, Landscapes & Infrastructural Facilities

1 Hing Fat Street

Completed in 1957, Victoria Park was the former Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter built with materials collected from damaged houses destroyed in the war. With an area of 19 hectares and well-equipped facilities, Victoria Park serves as an ideal, multifunctional park for different types of sport events, trade fairs and even political gatherings. It is the central park for Hong Kong people.
Victoria Park was renovated from 2000 – 2002. The statue of Queen Victoria and the award winning Hing Fat Street Public Toilet were conserved, while some of the facilities were renovated and additional trees were planted. 6 soccer pitches were realigned vertically for the purpose of holding public events.
